Rise

This photo series by Natasha Wilson has previously been published in the US, but we are more than happy to get the opportunity to re-publish it here on the other side of the Atlantic. The series is called "Rise", and Wilson’s vision behind it was to showcase a physical representation of whitewashing - casting white models and actors as a default - in Hollywood, and in the American media in general. Lack of diversity in the media is also a giant problem here in Europe; although the populations in most countries are becoming increasingly diverse, this is not reflected to a sufficient degree in our media outlets. The Doyennes was founded exactly because we were so sick of the lack of diversity we saw in the media landscape when it came to the representation of women, and we’re therefore very excited to present this stunning and powerful visual!
